For my school project in my last year, I had the chance to decide on my own direction. Since music has always been a major interest of mine and I've always wanted to do a project related to it, I chose music as the topic.

The Question

The Question

How can we ensure that people can search for new music more efficiently, so that they can find songs that align with their mood and emotional needs more quickly?

How can we ensure that people can search for new music more efficiently, so that they can find songs that align with their mood and emotional needs more quickly?

The key insights

With an overwhelming abundance of music choices available, many people prefer to stick to what they know and feel comfortable with to avoid disappointment and save time.

People's music preferences are heavily influenced by the mood they are in and the activities they are engaged in.

The process

The project began with connecting with stakeholders and conducting a debriefing session to frame the challenge. I proceeded with initial desk research and a survey, followed by further desk research and a Pecha Kucha presentation to share preliminary findings. The design brief was then developed.

In the creation phase, I used the MoSCoW method to prioritize features and developed Wireframes 1.0. Following concept testing and a second survey, I created job and user stories, refined the wireframes, and conducted research on inspiration and color schemes. This led to the development of a style guide and a high-fidelity prototype.

The final phase involved presenting the prototype at an exhibition and providing recommendations.

An evaluation of a test in which I used a worksheet for participants to complete. The worksheet aimed to determine whether music truly evokes different emotions and if people listen to different types of music during various activities.
The wireframes I used to develop the final product, with each wireframe focusing on a key aspect of the concept, represented the most important screens.
